LIGHTNING NEWS!!
As MAX-J marches forward into the final quarter of 2024, exciting developments continue to shake up the landscape of Japanese pro-wrestling, with highly anticipated events on the horizon and, of course, the ever-enigmatic Demon Lord ZENKI never far from the spotlight. In today’s breaking news, we’ll dive into three major stories captivating fans across the globe.
Gusuku Bowl II: Rhythm Saitoh vs. Defending Champion David Troy
The world of hybrid sports is buzzing with excitement as Gusuku Bowl II, the premier chessboxing event that takes place in Okinawa, draws near. Scheduled for early October, the match will pit MAX-J's technical wizard and chess aficionado Rhythm Saitoh against defending Gusuku Bowl champion David Troy, who won the inaugural event in 2023.
Rhythm Saitoh, known not only for his jazz-like fluidity in the ring but also for his cerebral, calculated approach to competition, is one of the rare figures in pro-wrestling who thrives in the mental and physical demands of chessboxing. After a breakout performance at "We Rule the Seas!" in September, where he pulled off a stunning victory with his modified Edo Fermata, Saitoh is looking to unseat Troy in a battle of wits and fists.
Troy, however, is no slouch. Known for his strike-heavy offense in the ring and a sharp mind at the chessboard, we understand that the defending champion has been preparing meticulously. He’s a double threat in this unique format, having displayed impeccable balance between aggression and strategy in last year’s tournament.
With both men already deep in preparation, the stakes are higher than ever. Saitoh, whose confidence was boosted after besting Jin Hirai last month, stated that chessboxing is the ultimate battle of brains and brawn, and that he’s ready to knock out Troy—both on the board and in the ring.

World Jr. Tag Team Championship Showdown: Can Hamada bounce back and lead the Demon Brigade to victory or will the "Odd Couple" duo become the new champions?
In other massive news, the next challengers for the World Jr. Tag Team Championship have been confirmed. Current champions Hayato Hamada and Jin Hirai will face off against the fan-favorite duo of Thunder Mask and the mercurial luchador SANGRE on 10/16 at BLIZZARD Pro's PRO WRESTLING STORM event.
Hamada and Hirai, who last defeated their titles on 7/28, will be looking to complete their V2 defense of the championship. Hamada recently went 0-7 on the J1 SUMMIT tour and has been training intensely to do everything he can to get back on track, further heightening the stakes of this match.
Thunder Mask, the seasoned veteran, has been on a tear since his elimination in the J1 SUMMIT, while his partner SANGRE is looking to capitalize on his success since returning to MAX-J after his North American excursion. Their mix of technical prowess and high-flying ability make them dangerous contenders.

Their mix of technical prowess and high-flying ability make them dangerous contenders.
However, those who are skeptical about this pairing note that it has more to do with their personalities than anything else. Thunder Mask is one of the foremost heroes of Japanese pro-wrestling, with his Kaminari Dojo professing harmony and goodwill in the competitive landscape. SANGRE as of late has been a bit more mysterious and has had a more combustible history. Thunder Mask was asked about this and confidently remarked that, "an explosion can carry you a long way if you know how to control the energy. I look forward to exploring this with SANGRE."
As the buzz continues to build, fans are already speculating whether the fast-paced offense of Thunder Mask and SANGRE will be enough to dethrone the reigning champs.
"Cheeseburger in paradise - or HELL? Demon Lord ZENKI prepares for North America!
In typical ZENKI fashion, the Demon Lord has found a unique way to prepare for his upcoming North American excursion. Known for his disdain of the Western world and its culture, ZENKI has taken to meditating in a rural temple, surrounded by… Westernized fast food?
In typical ZENKI fashion, the Demon Lord has found a unique way to prepare for his upcoming North American excursion. Known for his disdain of the Western world and its culture, ZENKI has taken to meditating in a rural temple, surrounded by… Westernized fast food?
Yes, you read that right. As you can see from the footage, ZENKI has reportedly surrounded himself with the greasy and processed “stench of America,” as he so bluntly puts it, in order to “toughen his spirit” for the inevitable culture clash. Pictures circulating on social media show ZENKI in full demon regalia, sitting in lotus position amidst an array of fast-food burgers, fries, and sodas. According to insiders, the Demon Lord has declared that this “vile” cuisine is necessary to acclimate himself before stepping foot in North America.
In true ZENKI fashion, he declared, “If I can survive the foul stench of their poison, I will be unstoppable on their soil.”
When he was asked if it made any difference that he would be wrestling in Canada and not the United States, he replied, "These vile smells know no borders. They are all the same - and when the Shin Demon Brigade invasion commences, all of the Americans will tremble before the power of Japan!"
His diehard followers, known as Zenki Zealots, who support himself and his Shin Demon Brigade faction, have already begun mimicking the ritual, with reports of ZENKI-inspired fast-food meditation sessions springing up across Japan in solidarity with their leader’s training. Below we saw an image of Japanese high school students who went to fast food restaurants in downtown Shibuya after school and held a "solidarity training session" outside many of the stories. Eventually the students were dispersed amidst proclamations of, "We are Demon Brigade! We are the future of Japan!"
MAX-J's MOMIJI NO SENSHI tour kicks off on 10/14 and will culminate in ENSOU! TV's SEKAI Trios Cup in Canada and it’s clear that Zenki is leaving no stone — or burger — unturned in his quest for domination.
Stay tuned to ENSOU! TV for more updates on these stories as they develop. With Gusuku Bowl II, a thrilling tag team title match, and ZENKI’s strange but calculated preparation for his North American journey, there’s no shortage of excitement in MAX-J’s near future!
