Fresh off the plane, Tiger Mask Red arrives at the media scrum accompanied by his official Japanese spokesman Kurisutofā Akihiko. Akihiko quickly took charge and spoke into the microphone.
Honored members of the press! Tiger Mask Red wishes I speak on his behalf. We will now take questions. Make them good, for we don’t have time for foolish inquiries!
Hand raised.
Loco Rojo from Seven Moons Media. First off, congratulations on your recent pinfall victory over NEXUS in that huge six man tag team match. How does it feel to have your first victory in Japan in years?
Tiger Mask Red thanks you for your question. He feels very humble in his victory in that tag team match. This match could have gone either way and he feels privileged to have been able to bring victory to his team and bring honor to his adopted homeland.
A Japanese woman stands up.
Chigusa Kimura, Star Puroresu. Tiger Mask Red, what are your feelings going into the J1 Summit? You will be facing three opponents over the span of six nights, both in Sports Form Rules matches, as well as in so-called Pro Wrestling Rules matches. Any concerns?
A most excellent question! Tiger Mask Red is very much looking forward to facing all three of his competitors and proving himself against them. He is very familiar with both styles of wrestling, but is most looking forward to competing under Sports Forum Rules. He feels he will be better tested in these matches and hopes to make all his supporters proud in his efforts.
A man in glasses stands up.
David Anderson, from American Puro. Can we get some comments on what Tiger Mask Red’s opinions on his three opponents are exactly? It’s all fine and good to say that he has respect for them, but what are his exact thoughts on facing them?
His thoughts? On Tiger Mask Red’s behalf, I take offense to your rudeness. We expect better from our journalists here in Japan. I…
Tiger Mask Red takes the mic, Akihiko steps back.
My thoughts are this. I have faced Jimmy Winner several times in Canada. He’s an incredible competitor, and a true student of the game. From what I’ve seen, Winner has only improved since the two of us last competed. While I feel I’m better at both grappling and striking, I refuse to underestimate anyone who’s survived being trained by Black Lions Road. I would like to say this though, Jimmy Winner, I haven’t forgotten how you used my mask in the past when you were associated with Lord GRIM. This is a matter between us that still needs to be resolved.
This brings me to Ryan Samuels. There is perhaps not a single man in this tournament who I’m looking forward to competing against more than him, other than perhaps Lord Zenki, but I don’t want to get ahead of myself. Samuels might be the single hardest striker amongst the three men I’m facing in the round robin. I know that sounds like a tall task, but I feel if there’s anyone in this tournament equipped to sup;ex him from pillar to post, it’s me.
Finally, Metal Hero. Honestly, this man is still a bit of an enigma to me, despite having watched hours of tape on him, but anyone who knows me is well aware I’ve a few mysteries myself. I respect Metal Hero’s warrior spirit and the number of accomplishments he’s put together here in Japan. I came to Japan to face the best, and Metal Hero is one of the best. What I want to know, no, what I need to know is who’s better: the soldier, or the real king of the jungle?
TMR looked around and smiled.
I’m not going to come out here and declare victory. Jimmy Winner, Ryan Samuels, Metal Hero and everyone competing over on the other side are absolute incredible competitors. I am challenging them all to bring their absolute A game, because I’m going to be treating every match, no matter where it appears on the card, as if it’s tournament finals. Win, lose or draw, anyone who gets in the ring with me better realize they’re standing across the ring from a force of nature, because if they don’t come into our matches with the same mindset as me, I’m going to wipe them out.
TMR turns and walks off. Behind him Kurisutofā Akihiko declares there will be no further questions and thanks the journalists for their time.
