(The camera opens inside the cluttered office of Mr. Japan, where Ryan Samuels sits across from his Japanese agent, Saito Sawamura, and his wife, Mrs. Sawamura. The room is filled with the smell of freshly cooked food, and the atmosphere is lively despite the serious topic at hand.)
Mr. Japan: Ryan, we need to discuss the upcoming J1 Summit. This is a big opportunity for you to make a statement in Maximum Japan.
Ryan Samuels: (nodding) I’ve heard about it plenty. Sixteen participants, divided into four blocks. I’m in C-Block, right?
Mr. Japan: Yes! C-Block is a tough group, but I know you can handle it. You'll be facing Tiger Mask Red, Jimmy Winner, and METAL HERO. Each of them twice – once under pro-wrestling rules and once under sport form rules.
Mrs. Sawamura: (serving tea) You must be prepared for both styles. It will be challenging.
Ryan Samuels: (taking a sip of tea) I’ve faced tough challenges before. This is just another mountain to climb. So, how do the points work in this tournament?
Mr. Japan: Under pro-wrestling rules, each win will be worth two points. For the sport form rules, any decision made within-rounds, like a submission or TKO, will be worth two points. A unanimous decision gets one point, and a split decision gives zero points.
Ryan Samuels: (leaning back) Got it. So I need to rack up as many points as possible in the round-robin stage to move on to the single-elimination stage. What’s the schedule look like?
Mr. Japan: The round-robin group stage runs from August 18th to August 25th. You’ll compete in six matches during that time. The top two fighters from each block will advance to the single-elimination stage from August 28th to August 30th, all under pro-wrestling rules.
Ryan Samuels: (nodding) That’s a lot of matches in a short period. I’ll need to be in top shape.
Mrs. Sawamura: (smiling) We will make sure you have everything you need. Good food, rest, and training.
Mr. Japan: Exactly! We believe in you, Ryan. This is your chance to show Japan what The Midwest Nightmare is all about. Tiger Mask Red is a veteran, Jimmy Winner is unpredictable, and METAL HERO is, well, a metal hero! But none of them have faced someone like you.
Ryan Samuels: (grinning) They’ll learn soon enough. I’m ready to take them all on. This is my time to shine, and I won’t let this opportunity slip away.
Mr. Japan: That’s the spirit! Remember, you have our full support. The fans here in Japan are going to love your style. Just stay focused and give it your all.
Ryan Samuels: (standing up) Thanks, Saito. And thank you, Mrs. Sawamura. I won’t let you down. Now, let’s get to work.
Mrs. Sawamura: (bowing slightly) We are always here for you, Ryan. Do your best!
(The camera follows Ryan as he exits the office, a determined look in his eyes.)
