LIGHTNING NEWS!!
GM Masaaki Sano held a press conference today in a corporate event space that was only big enough for the media and press to attend. However, there were all sorts of fans milling around outside and it was telecast on local TV and it seemed that anyone who wasn't outside the media building watching via their mobile phones were gathered in a bar or a restaurant somewhere watching it together.
CRUISERWORLD II Day 2 Update
Sano gave a quick update to the Day 2 card tomorrow noting that the match order would be accommodated to include two new luchador signees, El Refresco IV and Il Ladro, who will compete in tag team matches as they make their respective debuts as MAX ambassadors.

J1 SUMMIT 2024 SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED!!!
In the most momentous news of the evening, Sano unveiled J1 SUMMIT 2024. The tournament will be held in Tokyo at the Mirai Dome and will have a seating capacity of a staggering 20,000 fans. The size of the venue tells us that this will undoubtedly be the most ambitious format of the tournament that Japan and the world has ever seen. Sano revealed the tournament participants and the format to dozens of reporters who marveled at the scale of the tournament.
The press was in shock, as no one expected an event of this magnitude. Many of the questions pertained to the cost of such an event, with some wondering just how MAX-J could afford such a venue for such a period of time, with so many fighters, and all of the administrative support required. Sano was nonchalant and said that the 4536 Group was willing to "push the sky to its limit" as a major test for the viability of the brand as a commercial entity and noted that for as much as the fighters would put on the line for the sake of competition, the scale of the J1 indicated that he was joining them in putting as much on the line as anyone else, though with some humility he did remark that the only concussion he might sustain would come from him banging his head on his desk, a remark that drew a laugh from the pres. He concluded the event by saying that he was confident that this would prove to be the most important two weeks in the history of MAX-J.
Format
- The tournament will feature 16 participants total, divided into 4 blocks (A, B, C, and D)
- The tournament will feature a round-robin group stage in which the top two fighters from each block will move onto an 8-man single elimination stage that will eventually culminate the winner of the tournament
- In the round-robin group stage (8/18-8/25), each participant will compete in six matches, thus fighting each opponent in their block twice - once under pro-wrestling rules and once under the sport form rules.
- Under pro-wrestling rules, each win will be worth two points.
- Under the sport form rule set (scroll down here if you need a refresher), any decision made within-rounds (e.g., submission, TKO, referee stoppage) will be worth two points. A unanimous decision will award 1 point. A split decision will award zero points.
- The entirety of the single-elimination stage (8/28-8/30) will be fought under pro-wrestling rules over a three-day consecutive period.
