5/6/2024 - Renewal

We return from break with the Punch Line at the podium, talking amongst themselves.

Steve Oxen's "Old West Gunslinger" whistles through the venue as Ryan Samuels emerges from the back, sporting a light blue button up shirt, dark blue jeans and cowboy boots... and of course the hat!

The Punch Line all roll their eyes.

Hull continues to chastise him, but gets nudged by Norris and the trio turns and laughs as the camera pans across, then down...

POPCORN POLLO?!

HARV NORRIS
It be the sick by' we saw over the Holl'days!

Popcorn struts up to the podium and stands on Vezina's foot, snatching the microphone away.

The trio's laughter stops as POLLO GIGANTE emerges from the back and stands behind Popcorn Pollo.  Popcorn points to Samuels. 

Gigante steps forward.

Vezina starts laughing.

Samuels smirks.

Vezina looks around, chuckling.

The crowd starts to stir, Vezina frowns...

The crowd starts roaring!

The crowd explodes as the 6'8" / 335lbs redhead from Texas! "Iron" Mack Brody comes sauntering out - shirtless, blue jeans and cowboy boots!

Samuels and Brody exchange a quick hand grab and slap each other on the back.  The Punch Line are arguing all the way down the aisle, backing their way down to the ring.  Brody takes the mic...

Gigante nods and Popcorn Pollo jumps up and down as the tallest duo to ever step foot in Pollo Road march down to the ring!

Their march turns into a sprint and the two big men slide into the ring and are immediately met by Harv Norris and Rick Hull! Roy Vezina makes a run for it, but can't escape ringside with Ryan Samuels standing guard.  Norris and Hull's jump on Brody and Gigante is short lived as some forearm hammers to the back drop them to their knees and the challengers each send a champion through the ropes and to the floor! The crowd roars as Brody steps onto the second rope and invites Vezina to get into the action, while Gigante stands with his arms above his head staring down menacingly at the two champions recovering on the floor. 

Brody agrees to start the bout as Gigante exits to the apron.  The Punch Line huddle outside the ring and elect Harv Norris to start, who dashes into the ring and ducks Brody's initial attack.  Unfortunately for Norris, Brody bounces off the ropes and blasts him with a flying shoulder tackle! Norris goes down, but the champ doesn't get even a second to catch his breath! Brody drags him up and bounds into the ropes, coming out with a big boot!

NORRIS DODGES IT!

Norris tags in Hull, then grabs a hold of Brody's leg! Hull scales the turnbuckles and leaps off - a diving side kick! Brody stumbles, falls to a knee but doesn't go right down! Hull chases him down and lights him up with a couple more kicks but Brody catches one and the crowd eats it up as Brody picks Hull up into the air! Hull screams, shouting to be put down.. and Brody obliges - throwing him into the challengers' corner! Brody tags in Gigante as Hull falls on all fours, trying to catch his breath and gets his bearings about him.  Gigante steps in and looks down at Hull, then uses the top of his foot to lift/throw Hull back into the corner.  Brody backs off to show referee Tubby Thomas he has no intention of interfering, while Pollo Gigante pulls Hull up, drapes both arms over the top rope...

AND SLAPS THE HELL OUT OF HIS CHEST!

Hull's arms come loose and his body crumbles to the mat.  Vezina rushes over and tries to grab him, yanking him a few feet toward the ropes before Ryan Samuels chases him away.  Gigante motions to the crowd, raising his arms up and down and gets a big reaction back for it.  Hull is yanked to his feet and Gorilla Pressed seven feet into the air! Hull manages to slip out and crashes to the mat, rolling out before Pollo Gigante can get to him.

Norris is now the legal man again, but he takes the long way around and drives a knee into Gigante's... well, lower back as he's staring down Rick Hull.  Gigante falls to a knee, so Norris slaps on a quick rear naked choke! Thomas intervenes as Gigante is in the ropes and Norris backs off immediately, but is quickly explained away as Hull decks Gigante with a punch to the face! Gigante gets pulled into the centre of the ring and Norris delivers a snap suplex! It isn't the prettiest, but Shelzi notes that he got him over and he crashed him into the mat - it counts! Norris then steps on Gigante's leg and pulls it up, cranking on it before attempting a spinning toe hold... but as he turns, Gigante kicks him forward! The big chicken tries to get back up to his feet, but Harv Norris charges in...

AND GETS SCOOPED UP!

But Gigante isn't even on his feet yet! Norris cries out as Gigante climbs off his knees, up to a full vertical base and holds Norris up... THEN SLAMS HIM DOWN! The crowd cheers the display of power from Pollo Gigante, but cheer even louder as Gigante clocks Rick Hull off the apron as soon as he opens his mouth! Gigante goes back to his corner and tags in Brody, who comes in and drops a leg across the throat of Norris! Brody grabs Norris and drags him to his knees, stuffing him between his legs...

HOISTS HIM UP INTO A CRUCIFIX LIFT!

Norris is shaking his head no, but Brody steps forward and throws him!

IRON CROSS!

Brody marches over and stares Vezina down as he plants a knee across Norris' chest!

Vezina slaps his hands against the apron and storms away, retrieving Rick Hull from the floor.  Brody gets his belt from referee Tubby Thomas and Pollo Gigante gets his, the new champions are joined by Ryan Samuels in the ring and the tall trio raise their arms over Harv Norris' body!

Although we don't get good audio of it, Roy Vezina is red faced as he screams at Ryan Samuels! The Punchies grab Norris and rescue him from the ring, but the entire time Vezina is helping his teammate - he is staring daggers through Samuels! "The Midwest Nightmare" is all smiles, which only serves to piss off Vezina more!

We return from break with Devlin Masters and Tubby Thomas standing inside the ring with Sam Hewitt. 

He holds it up.

The crowd cheers and Masters shakes his head.

There's some chuckles at his crude remark as Hewitt throws the coin up into the air and catches it.  Masters eagerly awaits the reveal...

Masters scoffs.

The instrumental of "¿Comprendes, Mendez?" by Control Machete hits to a loud pop, signalling the arrival of MEZA - the singles champion! He makes his way down to the ring, slapping hands with fans.

Masters flips off the crowd.

MEZA unfastens his title and hands it to referee Tubby Thomas, prompting Devlin Masters to leap off the second rope! With a blindside attack, the title bout officially begins! Masters grabs his bandana off his head and begins using it to choke MEZA, who fights valiantly to remove himself from that situation... and does, but Masters re-calibrates the attack as Thomas wrestles the bandana away.  Masters pummels MEZA with forearms to the back, dropping him to his knees near the ropes.  Masters then batters him with knees to the body, mixing in forearms before he pulls the champion away from the ropes and sloppily body slams him down to the mat! Masters backs into the corner and sprints out, dropping an elbow down across MEZA's chest.  He jumps on top!

Masters argues with the call, but pulls MEZA back up to his feet and goes for a body slam again.  This time MEZA slips out and he cracks Masters with a back fist, then grabs a rear waist hold.  He goes for a German suplex, but Masters does a terrific job of blocking it with his leg.  MEZA rushes him forward into the ropes and executes an O'Connor roll, but back rolls out of the pin.  As Masters is getting up...

FLYING CROSSBODY!

MEZA hooks the leg!

3-NO!

Masters takes refuge out on the floor, crouching down beside the ring.  MEZA reaches out for him, but Masters grabs him and drags him throat first across the second rope - and holds it! MEZA kicks as Masters gets up to four on his five count from Thomas, then releases it.  MEZA falls back into the ring, clutching his throat... but Masters grabs his leg and pulls him out of the ring to the floor.  Hewitt notes that weapon use is A-OK on the floor, but the wrestlers still have to adhere to the referee's ten count.  Sure enough, Masters looks around and grabs the first thing he sees - the ring bell - and talks some trash to MEZA as he's fighting back to his feet.  MEZA turns in time to see Masters charging full force, but side steps it and the bell rings out as it collides with the corner post! MEZA grabs Masters and slams him against the timekeeper's table! As MEZA grabs a chair, Thomas' count reaches six so the champion decides to ditch the chair and pick up Masters to throw him back inside the ring.  Masters rakes his eyes and as MEZA staggers away, Masters grabs the chair and charges at MEZA again but this time Masters with the chair between them, collides with MEZA! The champion falls to the ground as the challenger dives back into the ring and demands Thomas count faster! MEZA hears the nine and gets up, nearly tripping but dives back inside the ring!

Masters is right back on him, driving his forearms into the champion's back as he attempts to get back to his feet.  Masters drives a knee into the body and sends MEZA tumbling through the ropes and back out to the floor.  Masters shrugs at Thomas as if he did it accidentally, then hops out and retrieves the chair! He smacks it on the ground a few times, anxiously stalking MEZA...

CRACK!

Masters misses! He hits the ring apron!

MEZA rushes him, battering him with shots as Masters drops the chair.  The champion grabs the challenger and lariats him! MEZA grabs the chair and the crowd roars its approval, but the young champion seems conflicted... so he sets up the chair instead, then grabs Masters and forces him to take a seat! MEZA raises his arm and climbs onto the apron, then grabs the top rope... leaps onto the second...

COFFIN SPLASH!

NO!

ONE!

HOME!

MEZA crashes through the chair as Masters moves with just inches to spare! Referee Tubby Thomas comes out to check on MEZA, inviting Dr. Nick Pierson over to check him.  MEZA shows good signs, so Pierson takes off.  Thomas tells Masters to get the action back in the ring, but gets told to fuck off in response.  Masters grabs the mangled chair and slams it to the ground, he then retrieves MEZA and stuffs him between his legs...

PILEDRI-NO!

MEZA blocks it, Masters slams his forearm down on him a couple more times and tries again but similar results.  He tries to readjust his grip, but MEZA hauls him up...

PENDULUM BOMB ON THE FLOOR!

Masters cries out in pain as MEZA falls back to the ground, trying to reach the ring.  He grabs the ring skirt and clutches the bottom rope, hanging on as he tries to swing his legs up.  Thomas' count reaches eight as MEZA gets his leg up and scoots into the ring. 

NINE!

Masters is still clutching his head as he rolls to his knees, then tries to sprint to his feet but his legs give out!

TEN!

The bell sounds as Masters lays on the floor, shouting "NO!" repeatedly.  Dr. Nick Pierson comes over to check him out as MEZA is announced as the winner, but remains on the mat.  Pierson avoids being kicked away as stage hands help to hold Masters down as Pierson does a quick check over to ensure Masters has no immediate injuries.  Masters gets the OK and tries to sprint away, but the same stage hands grab him and tell him he has to get his head shaved!

MEZA forgoes the invitation to buzz Masters' hair as he rolls out of the ring and collects his title, so Tubby Thomas seems to gleefully accept the offer and does two quick buzzes as lots of hair falls! The crowd cheers, but Masters' cries are louder!

Masters gets loose and grabs a towel, hiding his head as he storms off backstage! Thomas grabs some of the fallen hair and throws it in the air to cheers as MEZA makes his way up the aisle.  Lynx comes out to hug him and raises his arm...

The bell sounds to start our stand by match.  The unusual pairing of Lynx, AJ Knight and Orville Newton squaring off against the familiar trio of Kalidah and the Herkmen, Azalo and Nizbel with the scary Lotte at ringside in support of her men.  The bout begins with a lock-up between Azalo and Newton, the Herkman backs the Brains into the corner and after receiving the order to break by referee Gideon Dube - Azalo attacks with an elbow strike! He follows it up with some vicious knees to the body but stops before five, shouting "FOUR!" repeatedly like an annoying teenager at a golf course.  Azalo grabs Newton and whips him into the opposite neutral corner and charges in, but Newton hops up and wraps his legs around Azalo's head... scissors him down to the mat! Azalo rolls into enemy territory and eats a shot from Lynx, sending the Herkman back toward his corner! Lotte grabs her minion and pets his head, trying to soothe him.

Kalidah makes his way into the match and lurches around, trying to intimidate Orville Newton as Lynx shouts to him to stay cool.  Newton gets backed into a corner and Kalidah lunges forward, but misses! Newton slinks out and does the worst Ali shuffle you'll ever see, but the crowd eats it up anyway! Kalidah slaps on a side headlock after the next lock-up, Newton gives a thumbs up to whatever Lynx said to him and stays calm... trying to remove himself from the vice-like grip on his head.  Newton finally succeeds in pushing him off, but Kalidah comes back and delivers a throat thrust! He goes down in a hurry! Referee Gideon Dube checks on Newton, but the Brains shows more guts than those as he ascends back to his feet and ignores the request for a tag.  He coughs a couple times as he circles around Kalidah again, dodges a lock-up and rolls to tag in Lynx!

Lynx jumps into the action and ducks a wild shot from Kalidah, then pops him with a dropkick! Kalidah spills out to the floor and Nizbel gets in to take his place.  Lynx turns and arm drags him to the mat as Lotte shouts for Azalo to get in there! Azalo suffers the same fate! Nizbel's attempt to interrupt the offense gets thwarted by Lynx's kick, then he gets snapmared to the mat and locked in a chin lock! Lynx's knee is deep in the spine! Nizbel's legs kick out in pain as Lotte shouts at Dube to do his job.  Lynx transitions into a front chancery and drags Nizbel back to the corner where AJ Knight tags in.   Knight slaps on an arm wringer and drives his elbow into Nizbel's arm, driving the Herkman down to the mat.  AJ tries to follow up, but Lotte reaches in and grabs his foot.  AJ smirks at the interference attempt, but it also draws the attention of Dube and allows Azalo to charge in before Nizbel is even out!

Azalo jumps on AJ's back and is more a pest than real effective, so AJ grabs him and slams him over to the mat! AJ drops down and applies a side headlock on the mat, Azalo quickly rolls AJ over and pins his shoulders to the mat!

Shelzi notes that it can be incredibly tough to kick out of a grounded side headlock, given how badly your head is being smothered between the arm and body of your opponent.  Add in the vibrations of all the partners and opponents... and referee moving about the ring, you can easily fall victim to it if you're not careful.  Azalo though manages to get back to his feet with the hold applied and pulls AJ to his corner.  Kalidah and Nizbel each grab an arm of AJ and pull Azalo free, the freedom gets to his head as he sprints around the ring like a madman and dives in to attack AJ...

WHO MOVES!

Azalo smacks Nizbel and knocks him down! AJ turns and decks Azalo with a European uppercut, dropping him to the mat.  Lotte grabs her men and Kalidah hops down, the foursome taking a chance to regroup.  AJ stands ready in the middle of the ring and Lynx gives him his due, but AJ shrugs and says "of course" to the laughter of the crowd.  The laughter dies down as Kalidah steps up and gets into the ring.  AJ smirks, but the smile leaves his face as Kalidah's lock-up attempt is a choke! Two hands around the neck! He grabs AJ and lifts him off his feet!

Dube counts to five, but Kalidah releases at four - slamming AJ back into the turnbuckles! AJ staggers out and eats a shot to the throat! AJ falls down and Kalidah makes a cover!

2-Kalidah lifts him off the mat!

Dube shouts at Kalidah, telling him to pin him! Kalidah instead opts to choke him, which prompts Lynx and Orville to get inside the ring.  The Herkmen slide in and Dube tries to restore order... while Kalidah gets much more than a five count as he continues choking AJ! Kalidah breaks and leaves AJ lying in the middle of the ring.  He exits to the apron, dusting off his hands as Nizbel takes over and drops repeated headbutts on AJ! The crowd is slowly building up, chanting AJ's name to will him on for a tag as Lynx hammers on the top turnbuckle while Newton reaches in.  Nizbel gets a bit overzealous and dances around the ring, parading about... Lotte shouts at him and Lynx grabs at him! Nizbel turns and hisses, then dives at AJ...

HE MOVES!

AJ rolls out of the way, Lynx rushes over and grabs him - dropping him out of the ring safely as Newton hops in.  He grabs Nizbel and executes a Lightsabre Suplex, a snap-style Northern Lights... but Azalo breaks up the pin! Lynx grabs Azalo and yanks him out of the ring as Newton kicks at him.  The crowd tries to warn Orville as he cockily backs up...

TURNS AROUND!

MANDIBLE CLAW FROM KALIDAH!

You can hear the crowd's excitement die down and turn into cries for Orville to break free! Lynx tries to get back in to help, but the Herkmen both do a good job of securing him for their master.  Newton fights and fights, but the lights go out for the Brainiac! Dube calls for the bell!

Kalidah speaks to Newton before leaving, the Herkmen continue fighting with Lynx as AJ climbs back into the ring exhausted, but checks on Newton.

Kalidah and Lotte call the Herkmen off of Lynx, leaving the veteran at ringside.  He crawls inside the ring as the show closes.
