And there's the bell to begin our first bout of the evening! Good evening, fans, I'm Sam Hewitt alongside Brian Shelzi and this is Pollo Road! Currently are the former cruiserweight champion and multiple time heavyweight champion, AJ Knight opposite of the infamous and divisiive "Dare" Devlin Masters. This is a lightning bout which means it has a special ten minute time limit. Also in the cards tonight are two title bouts - MEZA defending the cruiserweight title against Sangre de Pollo and the Punch Line look to make a defense of their tag straps against El Cerdo Mostaza and a mystery partner!
AJ Knight and "Dare" Devlin Masters circle around, but AJ grabs him and switches into a rear waist lock - he doesn't even lock-up! Before Masters can figure out what to do, AJ's hoisted him up and planted him on the mat. AJ spins around and around a couple of times before slapping Masters on the head and inviting back up. Masters is both annoyed and embarassed and marches right up to AJ, who isolates an arm and twists it. Masters is shouting some inaudible insults at AJ who cranks on the hold and Masters flips to the mat. AJ readjusts his grip and applies a hammerlock, then uses his elbow to push away Masters' head. Masters repeatedly shouts "NO!" as Thomas asks if him he wishes to submit.

We are slowly creeping up on the one year anniversary of "Dare" Devlin Masters' debut in Pollo Road. Of course, you may recall it was against Kalidah and while the young man certainly gave the deranged Eli Buchanan a better run for his money than anyone initially expected - he hasn't been able to secure a victory over an official roster member. I say official because he does hold a victory over Ricky Quest, a young man who had just started training in the Pollo Dojo. That occurred in July during the Masked League. Even his brief allegiance with Mad Max was unable to grant him any real estate in the win column.

He's a kid with a lot of tools, but not a lot of brains. His own worst enemy.
AJ incites him a bit, so Masters is able to fight back to his feet. He transitions from the hammerlock back into an arm wringer, but he reverses it... and gets confused, so he tries to plant an elbow into the arm but AJ rolls forward, kicks his arm free and drop toe holds Masters to the mat. He leaps up into a side headlock, then slaps him in the side of the head. Masters isn't happy about it, trying to buck AJ off his back but AJ controls the situation without issue. AJ decides to step back to his feet and kinda toys with Masters, inviting him to shove him off... but they go forward and AJ clamps down harder. Masters starts mouthing off to AJ, who slides his forearm over the self-proclaimed Deathmatch Deity's mou--
*CHOMP*
AJ releases the hold quickly, but gets clocked in the head by an elbow! Staggered, AJ eats a kick to the midsection and Masters redirects him through the ropes and to the floor! Thomas yells at Masters to keep it in the ring, but Masters tells him to shut it and heads outside after him. On the floor, AJ briefly regains his composure and hits a forearm shot. He grabs Masters by the wrist and tries to Irish whip him, but gets kicked and sent into the guardrail himself! AJ crashes hard, breaking a part of it from its connectors. So, never one to turn down a hardcore opportunity, Masters grabs the detached rail and puts it in front of AJ and backs up...
SOMERSAULT CANNONBALL!
AJ gets sandwiched between the rails and Masters crashes to the ground, writhing in pain like superhumman. Thomas is out to check on both men, but Masters tells him "OF COURSE I'M FINE! I'M HARDCORE IMMORTAL!" and Thomas walks away rolling his eyes. AJ throws the rail off of himself, catching Masters inadvertently and the youngster lets out a cry. AJ gets swarmed by Masters, who pummels him to his knees and throws him inside. He tries to bring the rail in too, but Thomas reminds him it's not a street fight. Masters mimics the ref and climbs inside, grabbing AJ as he's getting up and struggles a bit but body slams AJ Knight - sloppily. He follows it up with an equally runny elbow, then rolls out to the apron and climbs up top. Thomas begins the five count and Masters takes it all, waiting 'til four...
DIVING HEADBUTT!
TO NOTHING BUT MAT!
Masters thuds into the mat and pops up, AJ hammerlocks the arm...
DDT!
He looks at the camera, smirks and dusts off his hands, then rolls Masters onto his back.

Right there, it's all technique. Devlin Masters needs to learn technique. Any fool can throw a man or himself into a guardrail, but AJ Knight became a multiple time champion with TECHNIQUE. He perfected that hammerlock DDT, he's got the DDT itself down. You may not know which one he's hitting you with, but if he hits it - it's over and he knows it.
SAM HEWITT
AJ Knight's first win since losing the cruiserweight title in December and it'll be interesting to see what 2024 holds for him. He doesn't seem too keen to start dropping weight again to compete in that division.
BRIAN SHELZI
Let the man enjoy his food, Sambo.
AJ rolls out of the ring and heads to the back as Masters throws a fit in the ring to lead us to commercial.
