BRIEF HISTORY
After three years wrestling small shows in Minnesota and Japan, Matt Pulver was signed by Lion's Road where he would make a name for himself as one of their top fighters. In 2018 he won the KOL World’s Heavyweight title by defeating his friend-turned-rival AJ Knight, before losing it to David Troy in his first defense. Later in the same year he would suffer a serious head- and neck injury after a bad landing of an Asai Moonsault. The injury would force him to retire from professional wrestling.
During his time away from wrestling he traveled the world, training with different wrestlers and coaches. In 2019, he found his way to Bolivia where he trained with the retired and reclusive luchador El Chiflado de la Selva.
In 2022, he debut for Pollo Road as Pollo Dorado II, keeping his identity secret to avoid having to get medically cleared. He won the Hijo Invitational and soon after become the World’s Cruiserweight Champion. His identity would not remain secret for long though, as his old friend-turned-rival AJ Knight called him out publicly, threatening to reveal his true identity. After two matches ending in a time limit draw (one of which were stopped by Pollo Bucket to protect their investment), AJ Knight finally defeated Pollo Dorado II in a Mask vs Hair match, forcing Pulver to reveal his identity. Pulver was promptly fired by Pollo Bucket, but was soon reinstated by new general manager Duke Womack.
PREVIOUS INJURIES
A near career ending head- and neck injury.
SPORTSMANSHIP
He has high regards for the rules and likes to treat his opponents with as much respect as possible. If possible, he likes to shake hands before and after the match as a sign of respect. He likes to keep his matches fair contests and friendly tests of skill, but doesn't shy away from a fight.
RING STYLE
His style is based on quick chain-wrestling and transitions to disorient his opponent. His usual strategy is to chain many manoeuvres together, often into a pin attempt or a submission hold.
He relies heavily on quick reflexes and improvisation, responding to his opponents every move as quickly and gracefully as possible.
He usually tries to use his opponents’ own tactics against them; trying to tire out fast and aggressive opponents, grounding high-flyers, working over the striking limbs of strikers. His pride and love for competition makes him prone to playing into his opponents strengths though.
