Many expected the cruiserweight title bout on 10/2 to be a foregone conclusion and though the winner was as expected, the road there wasn't as easy as many figured. Indeed, Roy Vezina surprised many with his effort in his debut match in Pollo Road, but ultimately succumbed to an AJ Knight DDT in ten minutes. Despite a tantrum following the match, Vezina managed to cool himself down and told reporters after his match that he's as optimistic as ever despite the loss and announced that "The Canadian Shield" Harv Norris would be coming in the next few weeks to be his new associate. When asked about his previous partner, El Cerdo Mostaza, Vezina suddenly answered his phone and excused himself.
5/15 in Erie, Pennsylvania saw Los Pollos, Sangre de Pollo and Ultimo Pollo IV pull off an upset against David Troy and AJ Knight. Of course, the win came with some controversy as Sangre sprayed mist into the face of Troy before striking him with a knee and scoring the three. The two did not cross paths again until the 20th Anniversary Special when they were partners in a tetrad tag match, Troy would secure the win for their team but him tagging himself in while Sangre was legal caused some friction. So 10/2 in Milwaukee saw these two square off for the first time in singles action, the veteran David Troy tried to rile Sangre de Pollo up - he spent the last two years suspended to repeated violations of excessive punishment, which is beating on your opponent with no attempts to win the match. However, Sangre managed to keep his cool during the bout even after Troy broke his nose! The time limit would expire and nothing was resolved between the two.
Lotte requested a trios tag match on 10/2, hoping to get her tandem - the Herkmen, Azalo and Nizbel some in-ring experience alongside her main squeeze, Kalidah. Lynx jumped at the chance to compete in trios action again, bringing together his regular partner, MEZA and wayward protege, Orville Newton for the first time since July - a loss to WAG1. However, MEZA began having weird experiences immediately after the bout was signed and even found himself fixated by Kalidah's presence in multiple points of the match. It was Kalidah's signature hold, the mandible claw that really seemed to have the most effect though - and rightfully so, the devastating nerve hold completely overwhelms opponents - a notion that Kalidah and his cronies take way too much delight in. After this hold was applied, MEZA just wasn't the same in the match and seemed to be frozen in fear when he was expected to break up a pin but found himself face to face with Kalidah.
This all brings us to 10/30 in Duluth, Minnesota. An evening that has been designed by Duke Womack, Pollo Road matchmaker to honour Matt Pulver and his ten years inside the squared circle. Pulver is currently both medically suspended from in-ring action and under investigation for skirting the suspension by using the Pollo Dorado II moniker and mask. Womack has been an ardent supporter of getting Pulver reinstated, noting that he got the proper clearance in multiple locations outside of the Laurentide Athletic Commission's jurisdiction. Womack has given Pulver the authority to book three matches on this card, they are...
1. Heritage Rules: AJ Knight vs. Orville Newton
2. Iron Rules: David Troy vs. Sangre de Pollo
3. Frenetic Cibernetico Halloween Special Cup - Captain's Fall Cibernetico: Lynx [c], MEZA + three international guests vs. Roy Vezina [c], Harv Norris, Kalidah, Azalo & Nizbel
AJ Knight chuckled at the notion of being put in the opening match on a Pulver booked card, while Sangre de Pollo told us in Spanish that he looks forward to knocking David Troy out. Lotte spoke to us briefly, noting that it doesn't matter who her team's captain is or who comes from this world or the next, darkness will reign. 10/30 will be an interesting event to say the least - don't miss it!
