LIGHTNING NEWS!!
The reverberations from GRAPPLING SONATA ZERO SPACE continue to be felt around the pro-wrestling community both across Japan and the global “MAX-J Diaspora”. Here’s a news update with what we know at this time:
“ALL AROUND THE WORLD”?
With the most recent defense of the World Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championship by METAL HERO and Earth Warrior, the recently commission titles have developed quite the following as many argue that they are the premier championship of its kind. In a rare episode where he spoke to the media, METAL HERO commented that he was happy with his partner and the caliber of their opponents thus far and hinted that he would like to defend the title “all around the world” and not just in Japan and the United States.
As of this time, we have no information from the IDO-AJSWC regarding the location or the timing of the championship’s V3 defense. That being said, with the title’s popularity, the IDO-AJSWC did confirm that there have been several promotions across Asia, Europe, and the Americas that have solicitated negotiations.
ANOTHER EXCURSION ON THE WAY?
There are rumors that the MAX brand will be sending another superstar on an excursion to North America, though at this time no such individual has been identified. There are a few names that have been thrown around, though at this point it’s pure speculation. The media has been abuzz with the return of “Judoka” Jimmy Winner and his dominance over Devlin Masters under the sport form rules. He officially returned the PMLL Scramble Championship to Pollo Bucket and Laurentide Athletic Commission authorities and it seems that he has not lost any ambition. There are also rumors that the legendary junior heavyweight Thunder Mask also plans to return to the U.S., having not been seen since defending the GPWS Jr. Heavyweight title at the FUSION supershow in Madison Square Garden nearly six years ago.
“CHECKMATE” DAVID TROY INVITED BACK TO JCL!
One of the controversies at GRAPPLING SONATA was the rowdiness of the “Zenki zealot” supporters attempting to distract David Troy during the JCL-sponsored Gusuku Bowl versus Shigeru Toyama. Their antics were not enough to shake the man now known to the chessboxing faithful as “Checkmate” David Troy. Reportedly, many chessboxing fans were surprised to learn that Troy is, in fact, a professional wrestler by trad, a revelation that has only added to his legacy in the sport.
Representatives from the JCL have stated a desire to see Troy compete “on the board and in the ring” at some point in the future. Some have floated a possible “dream scenario” of MAX’s own Katsuhiko “Genius” Himura, who graduated from Tokyo University at only 19 years of age and is said to possess an “all-world” IQ.

WORLD PAY-PER-VIEW BROADCAST TOURNAMENT ON THE HORIZON?!?!
An item that we can confirm is that our network is currently in dialogue with the wPPV service to broadcast around the world a tournament at some point in 2024. While we don’t have a lot of details, a source close to the negotiations has reported that the scale of this tournament will “shatter previous events like it” when it does occur. It sounds like there’s a lot on the horizon to look forward to when it comes to the MAX-J brand!
