As promised, Pollo Road matchmaker Mandeville Nelson delivered some more news regarding the upcoming Captain's Fall elimination match on 1/9 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Firstly, Eron Hunter is out! Nelson didn't specify the nature of the fighter's injury, but said that it will result in him missing the OPEN ROAD '23 event. In his place is the "mysterious" El Cerdo Mostaza. "The Angriest Meal on the Menu" is an imposing 6'6" / 320lbs and should add an interesting bit of firepower to Pollo Dorado's team.
Secondly, the winning team will receive a $100,000 bonus that will be split amongst the remaining team members. Nelson stated that although the match can end immediately after a captain has been eliminated, other members of their team can be eliminated throughout the match and could result in a captain being forced to wrestle in a shorthanded situation. Nelson added that he sees the bonus as an incentive for fighters to try and keep themselves in the match, but could also see teammates undercutting one another to make their cut bigger. Nelson shrugged and finished by telling us to grab our popcorn.
