Los Pollos may share their name with the promotion, but their popularity hasn't really been able to flourish due to a string of bad luck.
Los Pollos are an offshoot of the original unit, Los Pollos Excelentes - the trio of El Hijo de Pollo, Black Pollo V and Super Pollo. Los Pollos consists of Pollo Dorado, Sangre de Pollo and Ultimo Pollo IV. The simplicity of "Los Pollos" aims to bring the group back to basics, downplaying "Fowl Play" in favour of incredible athleticism and fast-paced technical skills.
Beyond an appearance by Ultimo Pollo IV in the main event of the Pollo Bucket 19th Anniversary Special, the group has been absent and many attribute this to the "Pollo Curse" which is believed to have been caused by the death of El Hijo de Pollo. Hijo's death in December 2018 preceded the closure of Pollo Bucket's top promotion, Lion's Road and saw many of the restaurant chain's subsequent ventures fail. On the wrestling side of things, Pollo Dorado has battled numerous injuries during his career but they seemed to multiply from 2019 on and the latest one this past August has forced him into retirement. Sangre de Pollo received a two year ban in December 2020 for multiple instances of excessive violence, which is beating on your opponent without attempting to win the match. Ultimo Pollo IV managed to make a name for himself in singles competition with his partners' absences, but suffered an ankle injury in the main event of the Pollo Bucket 19th Anniversary Special and has been out since.
All eyes are fixated on the imminent debut of Pollo Dorado II, but that's an incredible amount of pressure to bestow on a fighter - especially one with as many unknown variables as II has. No one has been able to dig up anything on the fighter under the mask, but Pollo Dorado has promised that his handpicked successor will be the one to restore the Pollo family name.
