BRIEF HISTORY
A wrestler since 1997, David Troy has taken on many names and many faces, and seemed to struggle in attaining success and recognition. That all changed once he joined a certain Midwestern outfit that will remain nameless; there, he staked his claim as one of the best wrestlers today with many remarkable fights and feuds, culminating in his rise as a proper champion. At age forty, David knows that he doesn’t have much time left as a competitor; however, he refuses to go gently into the night, and intends to face the rising stars of the new generation, to test both himself and them, and also to leave an impression on those who will carry on the business after he’s gone.
PREVIOUS INJURIES
Broken ankle. Cracked ribs. Rhabdomyolysis brought on by a severe beating in 2016 that almost killed him. Also, ruptured liver and spleen from the same beat down. Cracked shins from Muay Thai-related injuries. Busted knees. Two major concussions.
SPORTSMANSHIP
He'll shake hands. Conduct himself like a professional in the ring. If he's working heel, he'll get every bit of flex and leverage he can out of the rules, but he won't outright cheat. But through it all he sees himself as a professional, and will expect his opponents to give it all they got.
RING STYLE
Former kickboxer turned shooter-like, strike-happy junior heavyweight turned cagey veteran. Kicks hard and nasty, but without much flash or flair. Actual wrestling moves are somewhat basic, like facebusters, flying headscissors, and surprise pins, his favorite of which is the backslide. Goes for maximum impact in everything he does, and supplements his guns-ablazin’ offense with his ring IQ and sheer toughness. He’ll hold on for way longer than he has any business holding on, damn the consequences. (Katsuyori Shibata, KENTA, Malakai Black)
FINISHING MOVES
~ Rough Divide (shining axe kick/Scorpio Rising)
~ Brodeur (bridging arm triangle choke, named after his favorite hockey player, New Jersey Devils legend Martin Brodeur)
SIGNATURE MOVES
Tornado Fang (discus throat thrust), Kazama Special (side headlock spun around into a drop toe hold; adopted from father-in-law Shinichiro Kazama), Backslide pin, Running big boot to a cornered opponent (Sami Zayn's Helluva Kick), Inverted stomp facebreaker (Sole Food)
FAVOURITE MOVES
Knee strikes from a Muay Thai clinch, teasing slaps, Bulldogging headlock, Shoot/roundhouse kicks, Facebuster, elbow strikes, Baseball slide, Swinging neckbreaker, deep-bridge German Suplex, Various flash pins
COUNTER MOVES
~ Running big boot in response to an Irish whip
~ Countering an attempted powerbomb with a huracanrana pin
~ Countering a suplex or scoop slam attempt with a small package rollup
TAUNTS
~ BEFORE A MATCH: Stretching the ropes in his corner before leaning back onto the turnbuckles with his arms resting on the top rope on either side.
~ AS PERMITTED: Circling his downed opponent, giving them love tap-like stomps.
~ IN VICTORY: Basic hand raising, nods in respect or contempt at his fallen opponent.
