We have our first Laurentian Heavyweight Champion!
It came down to the wire with Joey Bailey upsetting the unbeaten Drew Dream to pick up his first and only win in the tournament. Bailey was strictly business from the opening bell, having cut a promo for our official YouTube channel stating that he'd do whatever he needed to do to avoid being winless in the tournament - and that it was nothing against Dream. The two battled for ten plus minutes with JT Sheppard offering moral support to his mentor at ringside, but when Bailey called out for him to "do it" after a very close nearfall courtesy of a Sweet Tooth (jumping hip attack), Sheppard argued with him - telling him he had it in him... but he reached under the ring anyway. With Dream distracted, Bailey got him with an O'Connor roll and pulled the tights! He scored the three and rolled out of the ring, doing a lap around with his arms in the air. The Quebec crowd wasn't impressed.
With the loss, all AJ Knight needed to do was win! The 26 year old knows a thing or two about that as a two time World's Heavyweight Champion, but in his way was old friend Riel Buck and his Green faced Goliath. AJ tried to keep him grounded, but BOB displayed exemplary power and when put into a front chancery, BOB powered up and launched AJ across the ring into the turnbuckles. Late in the match, AJ tried to go for his signature DDT but BOB shoved him into the ropes. Riel Buck grabbed the Crusader's foot as he spun to do his rolling elbow, tripping him up. Referee Darnell Cane ejected Riel Buck, but a diving headbutt sealed the deal on Knight's bid for the title... and Drew Dream was officially the champion!
Another one going down to the wire is the Best of 5 Series between Strange Brew and Masked Hysteria. Like the first two matches in this series, this one nearly went the fifteen minute time limit but ended thirty seconds prior when Snake choked out Hysteria #2. Masked Hysteria set Snake up on the top turnbuckle, looking to execute a double superplex but Ant came rushing to his partner's aid and yanked both men down - trading shots with each of them. #2 fell down and out of the ring, but #1 got the better of Ant. However, he forgot about the Snake perched up top who leapt off and trapped #1 in his grasp, applying the clutch and ensuring this series goes to a fifth match.
