“Eddy Kanata is it“
He stood tall, on a cliff, beyond him the troubled sea. The wind playing with his black, long hair and the waves crashing on the cliff, advancing and retreating, completed the picture. He smiled as he looked down, towards the waves which persistently kissed the cold stone just to back away again.
“Consistency is a gift. Many a fighter failed to conquer the world, not because of his lack of talent but because of the lack of stability. That is something you have to train or have as a character trait, not something you can simply acquire by listening to the wind, young man”
He started digging holes in his jeans pockets. A white overcoat wrapped his shoulders and protected him from the cold sea breeze.
“You´re young, surely skilled, and have a lot of other positive traits, I am certain of it. Not many rookies can claim to have been able to make it to the professional league. Small of a promotion as it may be, Pollo Road has its share of talented fighters.
Heck, I am one of them.
Started walking along this road as I was merely a whippersnapper, many years ago, left home at the age of sixteen just so that I could make it as a fighter, in this world. A trip that hasn’t always been pleasant on my bones, but a trip I also wouldn´t want to change with any other experience.
Learned many a thing, on this long-traveled road.
The most important of them is that a fighter needs to have consistency if he wants to make it big.
Do you have what it takes, Eddy Kanata?
Your first fight in Pollo Road and it isn´t an easy one.
You´re fighting a multiple times champion. A World Champion and a Hall Of Famer at age twenty-seven. Not an easy task to perform, of that I assure you. You will need to dig holes in your bag of tricks, just so that you can hang on and look eye-to-eye with me.
It will be the hardest fight you have ever had to fight in your young career.
And sure as hell, you might even surprise the whole world and get away with a win against yours truly. It wouldn´t be a shock, I wouldn´t be astonished at all. I have lived many a difficult day in my miserable existence and I assure you that not many a thing can surprise me anymore.”
Eron took a few deep breaths and turned around to face the camera. He stared holes into it and after a few moments, resumed his calm speech.
“I am not easily shocked and there is something else I am not an oath breaker. If I vow to do something, then I will turn the world upside down, just so that I can keep my promise. That brings me to my final point, that being that…
… I promise that I will bring you to your limits, in our upcoming match.
Come Hell or High Water, I will be the one to see what you´re made of in the squared circle. Will this be the start of a wondrous journey for Eddy Kanata? Or will it be the end of a never started career?
Time will tell…”
Eron turns his back to the camera, as the scene slowly fades to black
