The scene cuts backstage after the Hyperfight Focus Attack PPV as Reo Ojima is lying on a table while an athletic trainer is putting stitches into his forehead. A newly won and bloody Heavyweight title lays next to Reo as the title shines. An open can of beer stands on a nearby table along with a bottle of Jack Daniels and a shot glass. Reo's eyes are shut as he does his best to ignore the pain as the athletic trainer takes the needle and pierces the skin of Reo. Reo finally addresses the camera in a rough and grizzled voice as his throat is sore from the prio match and screaming at the top of his lungs after the victory and celebration with his ONI teammates.
Reo Ojima: It’s nice to have gold again. Been over a year, mostly because of injury. What’s best about it is how I won. Multi man tournament with some of the best Japan has to offer. Busted open in my second match with a guy named GOTO. It sucked, but I couldn’t worry about it. I had to win the match and prepare for the title match later in the night. Super glue the wound shut, place a bandage over it, and get my body ready for the main event. Busted open at the same spot as before. But I got over it, just like I got over having my brain scrambled with continuous knees, elbows and slams to the head. I pushed myself though because there was a title to be won.
Reo reaches over and slaps the blood soaked Heavyweight Title that lays next to him. A grin comes crawling across his face as you can tell that the old man is proud of winning the newly gained belt.
Reo Ojima: What a proper way to win a belt as well. My blood is pumping into this title, along with Hyperfight. I gave this company life with my blood and now…..now I have an obligation to make this company succeed. It’s on my worn torn shoulders and I’ll be damned to let Hyperfight fall because in the deepest part of my heart, the wrestling world needs Hyperfight. It’s more about the wrestling and the action in that ring than it is the glitz and glamor of most of the companies that are out there today.
Reo pauses as he thinks to himself what he just said.
Reo Ojima: And as I listen to the words that are coming out of my mouth, I think about Pollo Roads. I don’t care about Lucha wrestling. It's the drizzling shits if you ask me. But this company asked me to wrestle for them. They paid me good money to perform there. First class airfare. Decent hotel room with paid food. And I’ve shit on this company many times, to the point that they should have fired me months ago. And yet they're investing in me to help put this company back on the map. Because they know what I can do and how I can make that place viable.
The athletic trainer finishes up and walks away as Reo slowly, and painfully, sits up. Reaching over to grab the beer from the nearby table, Reo takes a few sips of it before talking again.
Reo Ojima: Maybe my age is turning me soft….or maybe the lack of blood is talking…..but now I really want to win that Cruiserweight Title from Pollo. Not because I’m a Cruiserweight, I’m going to do everything in my power to change that title's name, but because it’s a new challenge to make that place worth wild to perform and watch. And then I look at the competitors in this four way match. Decent wrestlers, but none of them move the needle these days and aren’t experienced to be the face of a company. David Troy is talking about retiring soon, probably because of the all the crazy and stupid bumps he’s taken over the years. Takashi Shinobu has a bright future ahead of him, but the kid is inconsistent. And MEZA…well…..still too fresh meat in the business to be taken seriously. Needs some more seasoning and facing off against real talent before he can climb up in the world.
Putting the beer down, Reo picks the cigar up and takes a few drags from it before addressing the camera again.
Reo Ojima: Pollo may be considered Lucha, but I’m going to mold Pollo into my own form of wrestling….and that’s survival. So get yourself a mouthguard kids, you’re going to need it.
Reo places the cigar in his mouth and shows the camera a big grin as he placed the Hyperflight Heavyweight Title on his shoulder.
